IBM i5/OS V6R1 Preview

IBM plans to introduce a major new release of i5/OS in 2008, with a wide range of enhancements that include major new security, business resiliency and virtualization capabilities. i5/OS security enhancements will help companies protect vital data by encrypting backups to any tape device as well as files stored on disk. In addition, new intrusion protection features will help businesses guard against hackers.

Continued investments in business resiliency include enhancements and further simplification of system cluster management. Virtualization support will be enhanced with new features to simplify testing and deployment of i5/OS applications.
